In addition, Mr. Kalnins is actively involved in his firm's asset protection practice that consists in part of the planning and implementation of domestic and offshore entities and trusts. Mr. Kalnins is a licensed attorney in Illinois, Wisconsin and Arizona, and he is currently a member of the State Bar of Illinois, the trial bar for the Northern Federal District Court of Illinois, and the United States Tax Court, as well as the State Bar of Arizona and Wisconsin. His litigation experience greatly compliments the firm's tax controversy work at all stages of audit, appeals and Tax Court proceedings.
Mr. Kalnins was chosen to represent Handler Thayer at the Family Wealth Alliance's 40 minus Leadership Summit on March 4-5, 2009, in Boston, Massachusetts, hosted by State Street Corporation. This event represents a family office/family wealth industry first, acknowledging the significant contributions made by professionals 40 years of age or under from a select number of firms that represent a 360-degree view of this robust space.
